The Justice Legal Network is an innovative, nationally recognized and financially sustainable civil legal services program to support victims of domestic violence and related sexual assault and their children. The Justice Legal Network focuses on helping new law school graduates to develop their own private legal practice while providing all their pro bono hours (50-100 per year) to victims and their children. In addition, each lawyer agrees to take sliding scale cases ($35-50 per hour) and fixed fee cases (up to $1,000 for the entire matter) from the Alliance on behalf of victims. Attorneys wishing to join the Justice Legal Network also must agree to: Receive training from our team on handling family court matters for modest means and low income victims and their children; Co-locate their private practices in the offices of the Alliance; and Commit to participate for a three year period. The Thomas Jefferson School of Law Center for Solo Practitioners is a lawyer incubator program that is co-located with the Family Justice Center Alliance, a program of Alliance for HOPE International. The Alliance provides discounted office space and specialized subject matter training to Center for Solo Practitioner lawyers as they represent victims of domestic violence in restraining order hearings. In addition, the lawyers in the Center for Solo Practitioners volunteer at a series of mini-clinics held at the San Diego Family Justice Center. At these clinics, new solos offer victims and their families a 30-minute free consultation in core areas of law, i.e., areas of law that tend to be implicated in the lives of those suffering trauma and abuse.
