BIRMINGHAM, Ala. —
Work continues to fight domestic violence in Birmingham.
During Tuesday’s city council meeting, a resolution was introduced that would extend a partnership between the city and One Place Metro Alabama Family Justice Center.
One Place Metro supports local survivors of domestic and sexual violence by providing them with resources.
The original agreement between the group and Birmingham was formed last year in an attempt to reduce the number of homicides in the city.
Through the original plan, One Place Metro would be eligible for up to $150,000 for a year-long term.
This money was intended to expand the facility to bring in more criminal justice experts from Jefferson County to work with the program.
If this resolution is passed, it would extend the agreement between Birmingham and One Place Metro until the end of the year.
