A memorial plaque honoring domestic violence victims was unveiled Tuesday during a ceremony on the steps of the Bexar County Archives Building.
The plaque was donated by Bexar County Clerk Gerry Rickhoff.
Lisa Cunningham, executive director for the Bexar County Family Justice Center, an organization that helps provide services for protective orders, counseling and other services, said domestic violence is an issue that needs to be conquered as a community.
“In Bexar County, we are among the highest in the state of Texas for fatalities involving domestic violence, and right now in Texas we are at 24,” she said.
There are more than 40 partners that provide services for victims.
