This list of state statues of strangulation legislation was last updated by the Training Institute on Strangulation Prevention in March 2021. The list was originally created by the National District Attorneys Association and has subsequently been updated at various times by the staff of the Training Institute. The Institute recommends checking both case law and current legislation for any updates or modifications.
