Webinar: The Use of Danger Assessments in Family Justice Centers: The Nashville Model
Nashville’s focus on high-risk cases began after its comprehensive Safety & Accountability Assessment released in 2013 highlighted multiple gaps regarding high-risk offenders and their victims. As a result, Nashville adopted the Lethality Assessment (LAP) for police officers and the Danger Assessment (DA) for service providers that funnel the highest-risk cases of intimate partner violence to Nashville’s High-Risk Intervention Panel (HRIP), a multi-disciplinary case review team. This webinar will discuss the impact of the Danger Assessment in Nashville’s two Family Justice Centers, the benefits of assessing for danger, and additional programming to develop to support high-risk clients. The presentation will also cover how high-risk cases identified by the DA and the LAP are funneled into the HRIP and how the high-risk team works together to provide wrap-around services to survivors and accountability for offenders. Attendees will hear from HRIP members about their roles on the team and how Nashville’s high-risk work has impacted their agencies.
